Collaborative C@P Day a Success!
Colchester- East Hants C@P interns joined forces this summer to hold one large C@P Day celebration at the Truro Library on July 15.
In the past, each intern held a C@P Day at their individual sites. A few prizes were given out, some sites held raffles or a scavenger hunt- but in many ways it was difficult for the individual interns to have a successful C@P Day and provide awareness about Nova Scotia C@P and it’s services.
This year, seven interns from Colchester- East Hants came together at the Truro Library to celebrate C@P Day together- with games, prizes and C@P paraphernalia for the public, of course. As C@P is a non-profit organization, many of the activities provided were free, making it a great opportunity for families to get out and have some free fun in the sunshine.
To kick off the day, a day care stopped by with around thirty kids who each had their faces painted before they took part in a sucker pull, a fish pond and a dime toss where they received tickets for a raffle of their choice. At the end of the day several great prizes were given away, such as a kids fun bucket, a Windows Vista package and gift cards from Sears, Carsand Mosher and more.
A steady stream of families followed the day care, picking up around lunch when there was a barbecue provided by the Colchester Community Workshop. Later in the afternoon, a coloring contest perked the interest of many children, and one young girl won a great prize for her artistic ability! The Big Dog Summer Events Cruiser spent almost the entire day broadcasting from the Library, participating in the day of fun, and everyone enjoyed a piece of C@P Day Cake provided by the Brookfield Bakery.
By the end of the day about 100 people partook in the C@P Day Celebration. The day was successful in providing awareness for C@P and for drawing in more patrons to take advantage of its great, free services!
